It makes me so sad to see the way that our culture views and treats marriage. You see it more and more in not just Hollywood, but in average homes all over America; husbands and wives breaking their promises to each other to love and cherish till death. Why do people take these vows so lightly?I do believe that they might mean them at the time, but as time goes on they seem less real. There is no sense of commitment.
To me, marriage is so much more than a legal document, a feeling, or just a decision. Marriage is sacred. Marriage is a lifelong promise and commitment; a bond that cannot be broken.
When I got married getting a divorce was not an option for me. From the very beginning my husband and I agreed that if we were going to do this (get married) then it was going to be for life...
We made that commitment.
God views marriage as sacred. It is something that he created. I pray that the world would see marriage for what it really is and what it really means. I pray that in the next few years we would see the divorce rate significantly decrease, because people are choosing to take marriage seriously and be commited to someone for the rest of their lives.
It is such a blessing and an honor to be married. I thank God for my husband everyday. Our "purpose statement" for our marriage is "to allow God to show His love for my spouse through me." When you think about it like that it is a lot easier to encourage and love your spouse rather than nag or get angry with.
The main point is that marriage is not a game....it is a blessing, a creation of God, and it is holy and sacred. Let's start treating it that way.

Thanks, Angela, for your thoughts. As a man, it is important for me to hear the "heart of a woman" as often as i can. Keep posting.
I love that you have a "purpose statement" for your marriage. It's beautiful.
I must confess I was checking to see if one of my blogs, "recieving a woman's heart" could easily be found on Google when I came across yours. I like the way you think and would appreciate you looking over mine for your views.
